The O'Mara Family

If you've peeked around my website a bit, then hopefully this sweet little family will look familiar...on the blog today is once again my favorite crew, the O'Maras! If you didn't know, Sean is my brother - who I have endearingly called "my rotten red-headed older brother" for much of my life. He and my sweet sister-in-law Victoria have grown the cutest little family, and I love getting to be Auntie Kati.

This past Christmas, the family spent some time outside building a perfect snowman (literally...immaculate), sledding with Grandpa Jay, and tossing snowballs for Jyn the golden retriever. I had a blast capturing this snow day in a documentary style - I love that the photos feel so intimate and they highlight a perfectly un-perfect day in their lives.

When I'm working with a family to achieve this documentary style, I always come back to wondering what photos will be treasured by the littles when they have families of their own. I think of the photos at my grandmother's house of old Christmas trees, birthday celebrations, first days of school...I look back on those pictures from the 60s and 70s warmly, and I hope that someday the O'Maras can look back on this day and remember the fun that was had.
